Alice Llewellyn

Prepared with a masters in chemistry, Alice made the move south from St Andrews to London in 2018, only a few years late for the Gin craze. Despite the language barrier she decided to help communicate science to the public shortly after joining the EIL. When she’s not shooting cathodes with X-rays and electrons or helping out the Pizza Hut delivery team she enjoys touring London, running up Greenwich hill and instagraming the love of her life, Bella.

Following a masters project creating novel battery electrodes, Alice started her PhD project in the EIL, using X-ray diffraction to study atomic lattice changes in metal oxide cathodes during battery degradation. However, she was quickly distracted by pretty SEM images and Diamond – not the shiny kind, but the one in Oxford, home to beamline escapades.
